I just moved into my own apartment after being homeless for the past two years. I cannot thank you enough for what you have done to make this apartment my home.
I come home and every time I walk in the door, I get overwhelmed with emotion knowing that I am walking into my very own place. I have pictures on the wall, a television to watch sports, a microwave to heat up a quick meal or pots and pans if I feel like making myself a nice home-cooked meal. Something that to others may not seem like much but if you have not had the ability to cook yourself a meal you cannot understand how wonderful this is when you are able to.
At night I have a comfortable bed to sleep in, a far cry from sleeping outside on the hard ground or being in a facility where you share your space with 5-10 other men. Your not-for-profit is changing lives, providing hope for those of us that lost hope.
It is because of Sofa for Service that I look forward to coming home and am truly motivated to do what it takes to be successful and to live in my place in gratitude and contentment.
What you are truly doing is transforming lives for those of us that thought no one cared and were forgotten and left behind.
